Baccarat is one the simplest casino games and is very popular in Europe.  One of its modified forms is also known as Chemin de Fer, which is the French version of the game.

Baccarat is also the game of many high-rollers since it is considered to be so glamorous. There is no known strategy that makes it a beatable game. Baccarat is played at a table and is considered a casino table game.  The table is about the size of a “craps” table.  There are three positions at the table, clearly marked “1”, “2” and “3”.  One is for the banker hand, the other two are for the two player hands.  This is the “mini” table.  A full size baccarat table will accommodate fourteen participants. The banker position usually goes to the player with the highest winnings. Baccarat tables are usually in a separate area of the casino. They usually aren’t mixed in with the other table games. The player can play at a table with a “shoe” where there are six or eight decks of cards. There will be three hands in the game that receive cards in the game; the player to the left of the house dealer and the player to the right of the house dealer and the banker. Even though there are only three hands dealt, there may be up to fourteen gamblers betting on the game. Not everybody involved is dealt a hand. Baccarat is also interesting casino gambling game.

When betting in baccarat, the player has several options. He can bet on the player, he can bet on the banker or he can bet on tie. Suppose the dealer deals the two down cards. Who do you think is closer to nine, one or both of the players or the banker? If you think the banker will be closer, you bet on the banker. The most popular bet is to bet on the banker.  It is such a popular bet that casinos charge a five percent commission for bets on the banker. The odds are such that the banker hand has the highest probability of winning, slightly higher than the player hand. If you think that one of both of the player hands is closer to nine, then you bet on the player. If you think the player hand matches the banker’s hand, then you bet on tie. This is the least popular bet and the one with the smallest probability of winning. If a player bets “banco” this means he is betting an amount equal to all of the funds that the bank has. This takes precedence over all other bets, which are withdrawn when there is a bet of “banco”. One you decide who to bet on, the rest of the game is mechanical and played according to the rules. After betting, then, all the participants just wait to see what cards come up. The hand with the highest point value is the winner.

There is usually a lot of excitement surrounding baccarat games because of the high stakes that can be involved. This is why you will usually find the baccarat tables in a separate roped-off area of the casino with guards around the area.
